iPhone 15, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max
The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have IP68. This means that they can be underwater for a maximum of half an hour. Up to 6 meters depth.
iPhone 14, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max
The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max also have IP68. This means that they can be underwater for a maximum of half an hour. Up to 6 meters depth.
iPhone 13, Mini, Pro, and Pro Max

The same applies to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as to the iPhone 8 models. They are water resistant to a maximum depth of 1 meter. The water must not contain chlorine or salt.
When is a phone waterproof?
More and more phones are waterproof. But how waterproof exactly? You can see this from the IP number. This stands for Ingress Protection.
It shows how well your phone is protected against water and dust. The 1st number after the IP number represents how dust-proof your phone is.
This ranges from 0 to 6. The 2nd number represents how waterproof your phone is. This ranges from 0 to 8. The higher the number, the better the protection.
This is what you need to do if your iPhone gets wet
It may happen that you accidentally drop your iPhone in the water. To be on the safe side, it is best to do this:
- Check your iPhone for liquid damage.
- Turn off your iPhone and take off your protective case.
- Dry your iPhone thoroughly on the outside.
- If necessary, drain the water from your phone.
Is your phone not working anymore? Then have your phone repaired. Or consider a new iPhone.
